"From These Hills" — Lou Haney

June 27, 2007

The world of unlimited consumption that is pop culture is also evident in the paintings of Lou Haney [Johnson City, Tenn.], especially through the synthetic quality of his bright, over-the-top colors and his glitzy imagery; by avoiding a central focal point, he gives his works a restless, almost frenetic quality that seems to celebrate at the same time that they question the joys of consumption.
