E&H Choir to Perform for Educators Association
October 28, 2008The Emory & Henry College Concert Choir has been selected as one of two collegiate choral ensembles in Virginia to perform for the 2008 Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Conference on Nov. 21.
The conference brings together music educators from across the state for professional clinics and seminars and to hear from the very best ensembles in the state.
The E&H choir was selected after a highly competitive process involving college and universities, many of them boasting famous choral music programs, including Virginia Tech, James Madison, and William & Mary.
"This is a tremendous honor for the college and the choir members," said Dr. Steve Sieck, the director of the choir. "Our selection to perform at VMEA means that we will be "on the map' as a superb choral program."
As part of the selection process, choir directors submit two sound files that include works performed over the past two years. The E&H submission included two live performances: "Bogoroditse Devo" by Sergei Rachmaninov and "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal" by Alice Parker.
