Kingsport's Christmas Banner Art Contest

November 30, 2009

The Arts Council of Greater Kingsport (ACGK), in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Kingsport, has announced the winners of this year's Christmas Banner Art Contest.

Best in Show went to Aubrey Baker of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Other high school winners included Dulcie Satler, first; Caitlin Maines, second; and Whitney Calhoun, third. In the middle school category, Delanie Boyd received first place, Lin Liu won second place, and Daniel O'Neal won third. In the elementary school division, Jordan Malone was the first place winner, Corey Miler was awarded second place, and Jacob Isaac was awarded third place.

The Best in Show artwork will be made into banners to be displayed along Main Street throughout the holiday season. In addition, the three first-place winners and the Best in Show will be printed on yard flags to generate funds to further arts awareness and education to area youth. The yard flags will be sold at Kingsport's Christmas Connection, the Junior League Holiday Market, and Kingsport Town Center. Cash and prizes were presented to the creators of the winning entries at an awards ceremony in October.
