The Lincoln Theatre Announces Fall 2013 Lineup

August 19, 2013

MARION, VA The lights of The Lincoln Theatre marquee will be burning bright this fall as the stage will be filled with a busy schedule of diverse programming. With a new Executive Director on board, The Lincoln Theatre is working to bring an air excitement to its programming schedule by exploring a variety of show options that outreach to audiences of all ages and interests. The Fall 2013 lineup for The Lincoln offers nearly 20 different shows, with more additions to the calendar in progress.

The Lincoln's Fall Season kicks off Aug. 25 with a matinee performance by Le Hotclub de Biglick. This unique quartet offers gypsy jazz music that takes audiences back to the romance of 1930's Paris. In partnership with the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, The Lincoln is bringing jazz and classical music, such as Le Hotclub and Mountain Marimba.

In an effort to reach new audiences, The Lincoln's fall calendar includes shows ranging from comedy and country to gospel and Americana, and ticket prices starting as low as $10 for some shows.

Major headliners for the fall season include James Gregory: The Funniest Man in America, the country supergroup Shenandoah, gospel pianist Gordon Mote, and rising star The David Mayfield Parade. The Lincoln continues its effort to involve local talent in their programs as well. Marion native Jordan Powers will hit the stage with Roseland in November as a part of The Lincoln's new music lineup. Additionally, The Lincoln Theatre Children's Chorus will perform with country music star James Rogers in a Christmas performance that will feature a patriotic tribute for Pearl Harbor Day.

The Relive The Lincoln! project, designed to revive interest in making The Lincoln Theatre a movie house once again, is continuing to bring special movie events to the stage. For Halloween, theatre patrons can relive the cult classic Night of the Living Dead for two showings, one that includes a Ghost Tour of The Lincoln. And for the Christmas holiday, Relive the Lincoln! will feature family movies sure to get folks in the spirit of the season.

Along with the full schedule of events at The Lincoln Theatre, bluegrass fans can make plans to attend a live taping of the award-winning public television series Song of the Mountains. Showing monthly at The Lincoln, Song of the Mountains is a favorite across the country due to its syndication on over 150 stations and viewership of up to 149 million. The live performances offer audiences the opportunity to see their favorite bluegrass and old-time musicians such as Randy Waller, Gravy Boys, and The Roys and maybe even be seen as part of the audience on national television!

The Lincoln Theatre Box Office is open Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and two hours prior to showtimes. Group discounts are available.
