Awards [resentsd to VHF "Juried Fine Art" winners.
August 03, 2015The 67th Annual Virginia Highlands Festival presented awards to the "Juried Fine Art" show winners.
The Fine Art Awards were presented in a lecture given by juror Vera Dickerson. The festival offered more than $1,500 in cash prizes for work chosen by the juror.
Award winners are as follows: Award of Excellence: "American Citizen" by Jeff Chapman-Crane; Awards of Distinction: "Traces of Tuscany" by Lisa B. Boardwine; "50th Anniversary II" by E. Mynard Blanton; "Alex" by Judith Fitzgerald; Awards of Merit: "Jaden and Friend" by Lawrence Denecke; "Daisies in the Sky" by Ken Johnson; "Raven" by Catherine Walden; and Committee Award: "Spectacles" by Sally Mook.
Dickerson is the co-founder of The Studio School, Inc. and Signature 9 Gallery, both in Roanoke, Virginia. She has been the focus of 30 one-person shows, and is a signature member of several Watercolor Societies. In 2008 she received a YWCA Women of Achievement in the Arts Award, and has been listed in "Who's Who in American Art" since 1986.
