Date(s):  April 21 - 30, 2017
Location:  Morristown, TN

MORRISTOWN — Encore Theatrical Company presents the drama "Time Stands Still." Written by Donald Margulies, this play is presented for two weekends April 21-30 at the Rose Center.

"Time Stands Still" tells the story of Sarah, a war photojournalist, and James, a foreign correspondent. Both are trying to find happiness in a world that seems to have gone crazy. Theirs is a partnership based on telling the toughest stories and making a difference in the world through their work. But when their own story takes a sudden turn, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.

After surviving a roadside bomb in a war-torn country, Sarah returns home to recuperate, yet eager to return to work. James begins to question their dangerous occupations and ponders a more conventional life for them. His life-changing questions are deepened when their long-time editor and friend, Richard, introduces his fiancé, a decidedly younger woman who helps Richard see the world anew. Will Sarah acquiesce, lowering her camera in order to face the world?

This production contains strong language and may not be suitable for all audiences.

This four-person play stars Mandi Lawson as Sarah, Micah-Shane Brewer as James, Mike Howard as Richard and Lindsey Davis as Mandy. Lawson is a newcomer to the Encore stage, and has been in several Knoxville productions. Just recently, Lawson wrote, produced and acted in her first short film "You and Me and Also a Whale." She is joined by Brewer in the role of her partner, Jamie. Brewer is the artistic director of Encore but is excited to be back on stage. He was most recently seen in Encore shows like "Rock of Ages" and "Doubt."

Howard returns to the stage as their best friend, Richard. Howard was last seen as Sir Bedevere in "Spamalot" and Javert in "Les Miserables" and has directed productions of "Doubt" and "The Best Man." Joining him is Davis who plays Mandi, Richard's girlfriend. Davis was seen earlier this season in "The City of Conversation" and has been in shows such as "Follies," "Hairspray" and "Chicago."

Encore welcomes Rus Mattocks as the director for this production. He has been seen in recent shows such as "Spamalot" and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" and was the 2015 Volunteer of the Year. The production team includes Aletheia Davidson, Ian Davidson, Becky Davis, Allison East, Paige Munroe-Mattocks, James Templin, Debra Williams and Frank Williams.
