College of Older Adults begins spring term April 3

ABINGDON, VA — The College for Older Adults at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center announces the spring term for noncredit classes beginning Tuesday, April 3 and ending Thursday, May 10. More than 300 adults over 50 years of age attend fun entertaining classes without exams, papers or stress. Coffee and camaraderie are free and supplied in copious amounts.

Classes are scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 10 a.m., with special classes and field trips offered on Mondays and Fridays. The classes are open to anyone 50 years old or older, and the tuition is $40 which entitles one to attend as many classes as he/she wishes. There is no per class fee for regular classes.

The COA offers more than 40 courses/special classes in a wide range of topics. Arts-related topics include “Square Dancing," “Movies of Doris Day,” “Book to Screenplay to Movie,” “and “Notes on the State of Virginia (a collaborative effort between the William King Museum and the Higher Education Center), to name a few.
