King University Choirs present spring concerts

BRISTOL, TN — King University’s music program presents two choral concerts in April in King’s Memorial Chapel on the main campus in Bristol, Tenn. The Symphonic Choir and Collegium Musicum perform Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m., and the Jazz Choir, Men’s Ensemble, and Women’s Ensemble perform Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m.

“The Friday concert of Symphonic Choir and Collegium Musicum features a variety of music and musical styles,” said W. Patrick Flannagan, professor of music and director of choral activities at King University. “Senior Alex Campbell will be featured as the student conductor. As always, the concert will finish with “I’m in His Care” and will include any choir alumni in the audience.”

Saturday’s concert, highlighting the Jazz Choir, Men’s Ensemble and Women’s Ensemble is under the direction of Shea Clay, assistant professor of music. The concert features a wide variety of musical styles including jazz, gospel, Broadway, barbershop, do-wop, folk, pop, contemporary a cappella and classical.
