JOHNSON CITY, TN — The illustrated maps of Dr. Scott Honeycutt are on display in the galleria at the Johnson City Public Library. Honeycutt’s pen and ink maps, which he describes as “rambler’s guides,” illustrate local hiking trails, landmarks and astronomical phenomena. Honeycutt has created rambler’s guides for several areas including Upper East Tennessee, the Tennessee Valley, Greater Asheville, Southeast and Southwest Virginia, and even as far away as Leelanau County, Michigan.

The display concludes with an artist’s reception Thursday, May 31 from 6-8 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. Honeycutt discusses his map-making process and will have maps available for purchase. Light refreshments are served. This event is free to attend, and registration is not required. For more information, contact the Adult Services desk at 423-434-4454.

Honeycutt teaches in the Department of Literature and Language at ETSU. This May he is instructing a course entitled “Footfalls and Excursions: Walking, Literature, and Landscape.”
