Community Week is back with free & fun events at Blowing Rock

BLOWING ROCK, NC — The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum hosts Community Week 2018. Events take place from Tuesday, July 10 through Saturday, July 14 with activities appealing to all different interests including Plein Air painting, storytelling, coffee, children’s art workshops, pottery and social receptions. Local community members, as well as visitors, are invited to participate in this year’s events. In addition to workshops and activities, museum admission is free. The week concludes with the inaugural Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival, Friday — Saturday, July 13-14.

The event lineup includes

Free Events:

Tuesday, July 10 — - 2:30 p.m. Storyteller ReVonda Crow in the community meeting room followed by a special Afternoon Art Club for ages 6-11 (3:30 p.m.) in the education center. RSVP required to Jennifer@BlowingRockMuseum.org

Wednesday, July 11 — - (11 a.m.) Special Talk with Hatchett Coffee with a presentation on Sourcing Trip

Thursday, July 12 — - 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. will be Doodlebug Club for ages 2-5. RSVP required to Jennifer@BlowingRockMuseum.org

Thursday, July 12 — 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Scholars & Scones: Jugtown Pottery with the History & Process: 100 Years and Beyond

Saturday, July 14 — 5-6:30 p.m. Plein Air Community Wet-Paint Show and Sale with Reception

Workshops:

Tuesday, July 10 — Thursday, July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is the Acrylic Plein Air Workshop with Mary Dobbin (fee & pre-registration required)

Tuesday, July 10 — Thursday, July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is the Watercolor Plein Air Workshop with Dwight Rose (fee & pre-registration required)
