Allison Parker to exhibit work at the McKinney Center

Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center holds an event Friday, Aug. 10, 6 to 8 p.m. featuring the work of artist Allison Parker. The exhibition runs through Sept. 21. The McKinney Center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Most of the artwork will be on sale to the public for the duration of the exhibition.

Parker studied classical drawing and painting at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City and holds a B.F.A. in painting and illustration degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Parker received a Hudson River Fellowship to study landscape painting in the Catskills and in Jackson, New Hampshire. Her paintings have appeared on the television series 'Secrets of New York,' seen on PBS and the History Channel.

She is represented by Clark Gallery in Banner Elk, North Carolina. She teaches ongoing classes and workshops for all ages throughout the Tri-Cities and will be teaching the second session of Drawing Fundamentals & Techniques at the McKinney Center this fall on Saturdays.
