College for Older Adults begins Fall Term Sept. 11- Oct. 18

ABINGDON, Va — The College for Older Adults at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center announces the fall term for noncredit classes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11 and ending Thursday, Oct, 18. Come join more than 300 adults over 50 years of age for fun entertaining classes without exams, papers or stress. Coffee and camaraderie are free and supplied in copious amounts.

Classes are scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 10 a.m. with special classes and field trips offered on Mondays and Fridays. The classes are open to anyone 50 years old or older and the tuition is $40 which entitles one to attend as many classes as he/she wishes. There is no per class fee. The COA is offering more than 40 courses/special classes. Arts-related classes range from “The Movies of Alfred Hitchcock,” “Traveling Tales,” “Square Dancing,” “Community Singing,” “Jack Beck’s Look at Ties Between Scottish and Appalachian Music,” “Great Artists,” “ Behind the Scenes with the Symphony of the Mountains,” to name but a few.
