Registration open for JCPL’s Mother Goose Storytime in January

Date(s):  January 04 - 31, 2019
Venue: Johnson City Public Library
100 W. Millard St.
Johnson City, TN 37604

JOHNSON CITY — The Johnson City Public Library is taking registrations for the Mother Goose Storytime program, which is for children ages birth to 18 months and their caregivers.

The program will be held from 9:30-10 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays between Jan. 9-31. Space is limited, register by calling 423-434-4458. When registering, you will sign up for either Wednesday or Thursday every week (not for both days), and your registration is for all four weeks of the program, not just one week.

The program consists of learning rhymes and songs, reading age-appropriate books, and caregivers spending quality time with their children. According to Betty Cobb, JCPL's youth services manager, “Through research we know that children learn to read best when the five practices of playing, talking, singing, writing and reading are nurtured. There are ways parents can begin helping their children learn even as babies. The Mother Goose program is an opportunity for parents to see these practices modeled.”

To learn more about Mother Goose Storytime, contact Betty Cobb at 423-434-4350 or For more information on other library programs and services, visit, call 423-434-4450, or drop by the library at 100 West Millard Street. Follow Johnson City Public Library on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
