ABINGDON, VA — Families looking for fun on dreary winter weekends, mark your calendars for three upcoming Community Playdates hosted by Wolf Hills Community School. The playdates are held at the Community Center of Abingdon Jan. 19, Feb. 16 and March 16 from 1-4 p.m. Each event is open to the public and offers open-ended creative play and art activities for children ages 4 through 12. The event dates and themes follow.

Jan. 19- Box Fort Building Extravaganza
Spend the afternoon using cardboard, duct tape and lots of imagination to build box forts and other structures.

Feb. 16- Classic Board Games Day
Enjoy friendly competition playing classics like Monopoly, Chess, Rummicub and Battleship, plus a variety of other age-appropriate board games from the Wolf Hills Community School board game library.

March 16- Build a Leprechaun Trap
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the Community Center’s Dogwood Room will be transformed into a “maker space,” with up-cycled materials and art supplies on hand for children to design and craft their own Leprechaun Traps and other inventions.

The cost for each event is $10 per child, and parents may drop off children from 1-4 p.m. using the Wolf Hills Community School entrance to the Community Center of Abingdon at 300 Senior Drive in Abingdon, Virginia. Proceeds from these Community Playdates benefit the Wolf Hills Community School Annual Fund.
