The Johnson City Public Library has a variety of events during the upcoming week.

Food for Fines (All ages) Bring canned and nonperishable food items to library to waive late fees, donations go to Second Harvest Food Bank’s Summer Food Service Program for children and families. Runs until June 15.
“A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Program (All ages) Register online or in library, track reading and win weekly prizes from June 3-July 25, registration divided by age groups.

Toddler Time (Ages 18-36 months and caregivers) 10:15-10:45 a.m.
Preschool Story time (Ages 3-5 years and caregivers) 11-11:30 a.m.

Thursday, June 13


Animal Tales: Reptiles Rock! (Ages 6-12 and families) 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Animal Tales bringing live reptiles for show and tell.
Story telling with the Stars at the ETSU Planetarium (Ages 18+) 6-8 p.m. ETSU Planetarium Director Dr. Gary Henson will give a full dome presentation and share ancient mythologies of the constellations.
Spanish-Inglés Conversation (All ages) 6-7 p.m. All language skill levels, converse with Spanish and English speakers. Hablar con hablantes de inglés y español, para todos niveles e edades.

Toddler Time (Ages 18-36 months and caregivers) 10:15-10:45 a.m.
Preschool Story time (Ages 3-5 years and caregivers) 11-11:30 a.m.
Night Sky Viewing with Dr. Rico Ignace (Families) 9-10:30 p.m. ETSU astrophysicist Dr. Rico Ignace will give a visual tour of night sky from the library’s front lawn. Event is after library hours and weather permitting.

READing Paws (Ages 5-9 and caregivers) 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Register for 15-minute time slot to read to trained listening dog.

Monday, June 17


Teen Coding Course: Advanced Swift (Ages 12-18) 3-4 p.m. Six-week advanced course in Swift coding program, builds on Intro to Swift class. Registration required.
Tale to Tail (Ages 5-9 and caregivers) 4-5 p.m. Register for 15-minute time slot to read to trained listening dog.
Teen Coding Course: Intro to Swift (Ages 12-18) 4-5 p.m. Six-week course introducing Swift coding program. Registration required.
Evening Preschool Story time (Ages 3-5 and caregivers) 6-6:30 p.m. Same as Tuesday and Wednesday story times, children can wear pajamas.
Retro Sci-Fi Movie Monday: When Worlds Collide (All ages) 6-8 p.m. Showing retro sci-fi movies on Monday nights during Summer Reading Program.

Bilingual Family Math & Science Story time (Ages 3-5 and families) 6-7 p.m. Stories introducing math and science concepts are presented in Spanish and English. Las historias que introducen conceptos de matemáticas y ciencias se presentan en español e inglés.
Star Wars Escape Room (Ages 12-18) 6-7:30 p.m. Work as a team to solve Star Wars-themed clues and puzzles. Registration required.
